Its that Time of the Year Again

Greeting to the readers! I am so sorry for my extended Christmas Holiday. I know, its literally almost March. But there will be a lot more exciting things happening this year at The Rugby Punt-It. You will just have to follow to keep up to date with the happenings!

So we have just seen an intense rugby weekend in the URC and the 6 Nations, France- WOW!

I want to talk about the Sharks, as always but I want to find out what in the name of Rugby happened to the Durban based outfit on the weekend. The Bulls were literally a man down for 69 minutes of the game! Why on Earth did the Sharks continue playing a Forwards game plan? When the Bulls lost their star player in Morne' Steyn, why did the Sharks not start kicking, playing the kicking game? Surely that's what you do? Well I know that's what I would have done if I was Lukhanyo Am. But I am not, I am just a couch coach. What a try Am scored on the weekend, always 100% onside as always. I have some mates that disagree strongly but they are wrong.

The South African Teams from the United Rugby Championship have just landed in the UK, looking to upset some European rugby plans in 2022. The Lions, despite their loss at the weekend, looked to show some potential with ball in hand. We need to see more of this whilst they play the European leg of the tournament. Attacking, aggressive rugby makes a good fit for the Lions. "You look hot as hell", my girlfriend would say.

What are you as a rugby fanatic expecting of the SA Teams? Do you think we will continue playing some good ball or will we choke?

There is a growing amount of promising talent in the country, Manie Libbok of the Stormers has found form in 2022 and he has had a really good crack at 10 this season. Another Stormer who has stood out for me is Deon Fourie, what a worker! At the ripe old age of 35, he is still working like he is the new guy in the span. Next time you watch a Stormers game, keep your eye on Fourie, he works so hard at the breakdown. He is always in the mix.

Marcel Coetzee, the way that man does not stop moving on the pitch is incredible. He is an option for a midfield carry, he is your ball fetcher and when you need a man to do the dirty work on the 5m line, he will get you over the line and back into a game. A true leader. The amount of money I would pay to see him in a Bok Jersey once more. It would be more than a whopping One-Hundred-Bucks! His time at Ulster really turned him into an absolute menace! Even more than he was before!

What are your predictions for the European leg of the Tour?
